Fascial Counterstrain (FCS) is a gentle, hands-on therapy that targets the root cause of pain and dysfunction by releasing protective spasms within the fascial system—the body’s intricate network of connective tissue that wraps around every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, and vessel. Often called the body’s sensory blanket, fascia plays a vital role in maintaining structure, mobility, and pain-free movement. When the body experiences trauma, stress, or injury, inflammation acts as a natural protective response. However, if that inflammation persists, it can become trapped within the tissues—leading to a state known as interstitial inflammation. This can cause the fascia to contract, creating tension that may stimulate surrounding muscles and nerves, often resulting in chronic pain and restriction. FCS works by identifying these tender points and gently positioning the body to unload the strained tissue, allowing it to relax and drain inflammation. Unlike forceful manipulation, Counterstrain is subtle, precise, and completely pain-free. The result is often immediate relief, improved mobility, and restored balance—helping your body return to a natural state of health and well-being.
